What is the aim of the programme?

Data-driven systems are transforming our everyday world. Human-centric thinking is required to ensure that individuals are truly empowered by this transformation and that organisations offer individuals transparency and accountability of their used data.

Within a data ecosystem, participants can create new value that no single participant could achieve by itself. The citizen is a contributing stakeholder.

Data ecosystems can form around an organisation, a community of interest, a geographical location, or within or across industrial sectors.

It can empower the cross-fertilisation and exchange of knowledge between organisations and individuals within the environment.

It also presents new challenges for how we manage and use data, and how we design and implement intelligent systems that leverage “shared” data within their operation.

These challenges include issues of data ownership, privacy, regulation, business models, licensing, and authorised reuse by third parties.

The overall goal of EMPOWER is to develop new systems and methods to enable and support innovative data governance in the real-world application of data-driven solutions.
We help organisations move from data-driven to data-informed.

Being data-informed allows organizations to make informed decisions based on real-time insights. It enables them to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities that may not be immediately apparent.

By leveraging data, organizations can optimize their operations, improve customer experiences, and make more strategic business decisions, ultimately leading to increased efficiency and success.
